Going to the beach is a time to relax, enjoy yourself and more than anything, have fun with your friends. When you go to the beach, you’re looking for the perfect day. You don’t want any sort of setbacks or difficulties. You want to swim, tan, and relax.
Here are three tips to maximize your fun when traveling to any of the Caribbean beaches:
Sunshine—lots of it!
Everyone aims for an enviable tan. But you need to be cautious. This region has extremely strong UV rays. Anytime you will be exposed to the sun, you need to be wearing reliable sunblock. Be extra cautious from 11 am to 2pm—just 15 minutes without sunblock can leave you with a serious burn. Remember to bring the sunblock bottle with you to reapply every couple of hours.
A nice sunblock will help give your skin the bronze look you’re shooting for. However, you still need to be careful. To err on the side of caution, take a quick dip in a pool or ocean every now and then. Also, drink water throughout. Just remember, every time you get out of the water, you have to reapply the sunblock for maximum protection.
Another suggestion is to find some shade! Try a solar umbrella. If not, a visor or cap will suffice. Try wearing clothing with light colors. If you have a ‘dry-fit’ shirts/shorts, definitely wear that. Something that will breathe easily. Even if you’re wearing a cap, bring sunglasses. You don’t want to be squinting the whole time. Wear sandals too. The sand will be too hot for bare feet.
Once you make it back to the hotel, put on a layer of aloe vera. This will rehydrate your skin and alleviate any burns.
Everybody brings snacks and beverages to the beach. Unfortunately, not everybody puts their trash in its rightful place.
Remember to put ALL of your trash where it should be—in the garbage! If not, it will end up in the ocean, where many species will be harmed.
Bring a couple of trash bags with you just in case. As you create trash, put it immediately in the bag. You don’t want the wind to start blowing everything away.
Sand here, Sand there
Not everyone is a fan of sand. It tends to get…well, everywhere! In your hair, bathing suit, and body is one thing. But what about your electronics? You’re going to want to put them in ziplock bags and store them in a separate water-safe container. Be careful when you handle your electronics as you will have sand/water on them as well.
There you have it. Follow these three tips to have an amazing day at the beach with your friends and family.
